Michael Murphy, MD

Dr. Michael Murphy serves as an advisory board member for Cell Therapy Foundation. Dr. Murphy received a medical degree from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University, and completed a surgical internship at UCLA Medical Center. He was a Medtronic Research Fellow at Brigham and Women's Hospital. He completed a surgical residency at both Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School. Dr. Murphy completed a vascular fellowship while serving as an attending in vascular surgery at Duke University Medical Center at the Durham VA Hospital. Dr. Murphy is board certified in both general and vascular surgery. His interests include peripheral vascular surgery and progenitor cell research.

Dr. Murphy is the principal investigator and sponsor of Stem Cell Mediated Angiogenesis, FDA IND # 11429, Phase I clinical trial investigating safety of using autologous bone marrow derived mononuclear cells for angiogenesis, 2004.
