J. Peter Rubin, MD

Dr. Peter Rubin serves as an advisory board member for Cell Therapy Foundation. Dr Rubin is an assistant professor of surgery at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and a plastic surgeon who specializes in body contouring and other aesthetic techniques, including liposuction.



At the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, he is director of the Life After Weight Loss Program and the Adipocyte Biology Laboratory and co-director of the Aesthetic Surgery Center. He is certified by the American Board of Surgery.

Dr. Rubin is past president of the International Federation of Adipose and Therepeutics and Science (IFATS), a group of scientists worldwide who are on the cutting edge in the study of the use of discarded fat as a source for adult stem cells. 

In addition, Dr. Rubin serves on the American Society of Plastic Surgery's (ASPS) Bariatric Task Force.  He was recently appointed as the first official liaison between the ASPS and the American Society of Bariatric Surgery and he is currently editing a multi-author textbook on post-bariatric plastic surgery that is expected to become the gold standard reference.

Dr. Rubin received his medical degree from the Tufts University School of Medicine and completed training in plastic surgery at Harvard University. He received his undergraduate degree from Grinnell College.
